VIDEO: Woman Expert in Jiu-Jitsu Subdues Armed Assailant in Guadalajara

From the department of “You Go Girl”: Residents are sometimes exposed to criminals who try to steal their belongings. Sometimes they get away with it, sometimes they are stopped by authorities, and sometimes their victims cause them to regret their actions.

A man who carried a knife, and whose objective was to rob a business in the Santa Tere neighborhood of Guadalajara never imagined that he would be surprised and tackled by  the person in charge of the business, and who is also an expert in martial arts.

The Guadalajara Police reported that on September 8 on Bernardo de Balbuena Street at the Reforma intersection, a suspect named Luis “N”, 24, entered a woman’s business carrying a 9-centimeter knife, and seized a laptop.

Minutes later, police received a report of what had happened, and went to the scene. The woman who ran the business told them that she neutralized the thief due to her knowledge of Jiu-Jitsu.

Police said, “Said subject had entered with an approximately 9 cm pointed knife, and was trying to steal a laptop from the business. Seeing the action, the woman used her knowledge of martial arts, achieving the neutralization of the aggressor.”

Police also said that, in addition to wanting to steal the computer, the subject intended to take the woman’s cell phone. She then attacked him, and stopped him until police arrived.

In the video, you can see the moment when the woman runs after the assailant, and catches up with him before he gets on a motorcycle to flee. The woman throws him to the ground, and neutralizes him as the police arrive.
