On September 10, 2021, the main entrance of the building was restricted due to leaks in the central roof. The walls of the main lobby and the ceilings also needed intervention.

The municipality, through its social communication department, reported that work has been carried out on the main dome, roof plaster, painting, reinforcement of the balcony roof, and window welding, among other areas.
This was one of the few existing hotels in the golden age of Chapala, and is one of the most representative buildings of that time.
It started as Hotel Palmera in 1905, and changed its name to Hotel Nido in 1937.
